Defence Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (DESACCO) was registered under the Cooperative Society Act Cap 490 on 10 April 2019. The SACCO intends to uplift the members’ social and economic well-being. The membership of Defence SACCO is a closed bond made up of serving Military personnel and Veterans. The Society started from a humble beginning and grew its membership, savings, and asset base to support its members’ socio-economic needs.
The idea to establish Defence SACCO was mooted by KDF leadership; this was after realizing the gap experienced by Service Personnel in inculcating the culture of saving and access to affordable and reliable credit facilities. The SACCO, is located in Water Works Camp Hurlingham, and plans to expand across military establishments countrywide as membership and asset base grow. Membership is currently open to KDF Service Personnel, both serving and retired. The SACCO aspires to be the financial services provider of choice to its members for the purpose of improving their Socio-economic status following cooperative principles and values.
